Whistleblowing
It is important that everyone in aikido has the confidence to speak out if they are unhappy with anything.
Whistleblowing occurs when a person raises a concern about dangerous, illegal activity or any wrong doing within their club. Whistleblowing can involve sharing potentially vital information about health and safety risks, environmental factors, harm of children or vulnerable adults, covering up for someone and much more. Any of these factors should be addressed immediately, so ‘blow the whistle’ as early as possible to prevent any real damage being done. To raise concerns you should contact your Club Welfare Officer or Association CPO.
If you prefer you can contact the BAB’s Lead Safeguarding Office or if you are unsure about what to do then ring the NSPCC’s advice line and you will be able to ‘talk thought’ your worries and work out what to do next.
