History : UKTAF is devoted strictly to teaching the style of Aikido of the late Morihiro Saito shihan, known as Takemusu Aiki or Iwama style. The foundation of the teaching is the long term training of the principal coach Andy Hathaway under Morihiro Saito sensei and his senior students. Iwama style is characterised by its strict adherence to solid basic technique and the full Aiki jo and Aiki ken weapons system. It is a very practical and effective form of budo. Attention is given to preserving not only the technique of Morihiro Saito sensei, but also of his teaching methods. We regularly host international seminars, particularly with the only two shihan appointed by Morihiro Saito sensei, namely the seventh dans Paolo Corallini Shihan and Ulf Evenas Shihan. We are affiliated with Takemusu Aiki Kyokai, an international network of dan grades dedicated to preserving the Aikido and teaching methods of Morihiro Saito sensei. | |
