This role was continued by Tamura`s long time French disciple, Pierre Chassang who was the founder of the National Aikido Federation of France and the European section of the International Aikido federation. Style : The roots of the NAF Aikido lie with Shihan Nobuyoshi Tamura who was the European Representative of the Ueshiba hombu Dojo in Tokyo. While Technical Director of the NAF he was the senior Japanese sensei in Europe and was particularly renowned for the purity and classicism of his technique. Pierre Chassang continued to emphasise the importance of Aikido as both a martial and spiritual way. This work continued with Sensei Narey who aligned traditional aikido with modern teaching methodology . Currently the NAF continues with a style with its roots in our legacy teaching above combining with weapons practice and Internal training which is influenced by Dan Harden's Sangenkai organisation.
